Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Every 4-6 Weeks

  • Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe the gate opener shaft and apply a silicone spray to reduce friction.
  • Regularly check gate hinges to make sure gate is swinging smoothly and freely. Grease hinges if needed.
  • Test the gate operator to be certain that the gate reverses on contact with a rigid object or stops when an object activates the non-contact sensors.
  • Cold Weather Tip
Gate hinges may not open as smoothly and provide greater resistance in cold weather. To offset this greater resistance, you may need to increase the stall force setting in your opener's control box in cold weather.

    Solar Panel Tip
In extended periods of cloudy weather it may become necessary to provide supplemental charging to your battery. If your system stops working and you suspect it is due to lack of sun, temporarily connect a battery charger to the battery. The charging current into the battery should not exceed 2-amps.

    Transmitters

  • Check batteries in transmitters to make sure they are fully charged. A weak signal may cause gate opener to operate erratically.
  • Verify that DIP switch settings in transmitter and receiver are correctly matched.
  • Refer to the Gate Opener Installation Manual (G550 | G552 | G750 | G752) for detailed troubleshooting steps or call our Customer Service Department for additional assistance.
