AC Power to Charge the Battery
The transformer included in the Automatic Gate Opener kit converts 110-volt
AC power to 18-22 volt AC power, which runs into the gate opener's control
board. Use 16-gauge, dual conductor, multi-stranded direct burial wire
(GW1) for this connection (not included in kit).
The transformer in the Zareba Automatic Gate Opener kit is recommended for
indoor use only. If it will be plugged into an outside outlet, it should
be enclosed or covered for weather protection.
AC power will provide the most consistent charging of the gate opener's
battery and is recommended if available within 1,000-feet of the gate.
Your opener will be able to cycle more times per day with AC power than
with a solar panel battery charger.
If you lose AC power, the gate opener battery will hold it's charge and
cycle several times before running out of power. You may also disconnect
the gate opener arm from the gate (by removing the clevis pins and clips)
and manually open the gate.
