Gate Openings
Plan for gate openings in your fence where people, animals and equipment need
easy access to barns, stables or pastures.
Electrified gates are generally made from the same type of wire used in the
fence. The number of gate strands normally match the number of lines in the
fence.
Zareba's gate handle kits are quick and easy to assemble and are specific to the
type of post or wire you are using. Our kits include the handle, insulators,
hardware, and simple installation instructions.
Depending on where the gate is located, you may need 20,000 volt (20 kv)
underground hookup wire to carry the electrical current under the gate opening
to the other side. This maintains the electrical current on the fence even when
the gate is open.
Note: A non-electrified metal gate also requires an underground wire to carry
the current to the other side of the gate.
