Electric Fence for Livestock
Zareba's electric fence systems for livestock are superior to barbed and woven
wire fences, as the short, safe pulse of electricity creates a psychological
barrier that trains animals to avoid the fence. It is effective, reliable and
affordable, and requires minimal maintenance.
Zareba has fence systems for beef cattle, dairy cattle, sheep, goats, and hogs.
When designing your livestock fence consider:
| |
the characteristics of the animal (i.e. coat thickness, hooves, behavior)
|
| |
if you are keeping animals in or keeping predators out
|
| |
type of fence (temporary or semi-permanent/permanent)
|
Once you have determined if your fence is to be temporary,
semi-permanent/permanent you can start designing your fence with Zareba's
Fence Builder™ fence planning tool.
Frequently asked questions about
livestock fencing.
Note: If livestock get their heads between fence wires and receive a shock
behind the eyes instead of in front of them, they tend to push into the fence
rather than pull out. Proper wire spacing (a hot wire at the animal's shoulder
height) is important to safely contain your animals.
